Vice Minister Wei Chuanzhong Visits the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain: Strengthen Communication and Enhance Mutual Understanding
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”1823″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”200×150″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Vice Minister Wei Chuanzhong paid a successful visit to the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain from May 19th to 28th 2013, during which Wei Chuanzhong exchanged ideas with his counterparts of the three countries on issues of mutual concerns and the promotion of future cooperation.
In Maastricht of the Netherlands, Wei Chuanzhong met with the 5 members of the Executive Board of the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM), who were there attending the 13th Conference of ISTM. The Executive Board of ISTM thanked Wei Chuanzhong for inviting them to attend the seminars to be held in Harbin and Xiamen in July and September respectively, and emphasized that they would provide the utmost support for the two events. Both sides also exchanged views on improving the construction of the international aid network of China, the training of travel medicine practicing doctors and establishment of communication mechanism.
During the visit in Portugal, Wei Chuanzhong met with Mme. Assuno Cristas the Portugal Minister of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Spatial Planning and Mr. Nuno Vieira e Brito, the Portugal Secretary of State of Food and Agri-food Research. Both sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Portugal, conducted discussions concerning the export of food and agricultural products from Portugal to China as well as the China-Portugal cooperation on wine management, and attended the press conference. The delegation also had a field trip to the largest state-owned farm of Portugal.
In Spain, Wei Chuanzhong met with Mme. Isabel García Tejerina, Secretary of Agriculture, Food and Environment, and exchanged views on the progress of inspection and quarantine access of relevant agricultural products from Spain. Both sides committed to further strengthen cooperation to provide safe food for the two peoples. Wei Chuanzhong and the delegation also visited the CCIC Spain, and held a roundtable discussion with the staff.
