According to AQSIQ notice 135. Foreign exporters meat registration, all foreign meat producers, exporters and agents are required to file their company information online with the bureau of Import and Export Food Safety of AQSIQ, China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China. This requirement comes into force with effect from 01 oct, 2015 and renewal annually in AQSIQ.

The Notice implies that any exporter / agent shall submit a filing application to AQSIQ before they export mear to CHINA. Exporters shall fill and submit the application form of meat exporter through the registration filing management system. Information, such as the manufacturer, exporter and agent’s name, country, area, address, contact name, telephone, meat category, test report, etc. needs to be submitted. After submitting the application, the manufacturer and exporter will obtain a registration number by the AQSIQ and CNCA.





Registration Categories

  • Cooked, Chilled, Frozen, Pickled.
  • Beef, Lamb, Pork, Venison, Poultry.
  • (Horse meat only from Mongolia).
  • Beef must be traceable to the birth farm using a unique identifier, or if imported to the first place of residence or port of entry.
  • Beef and beef products must be derived from cattle less than 30 months of age.
  • Carcasses, beef, and beef products must be uniquely identified and controlled up until the time of shipment.


  • Meat Feed additives requirements:

    Eligible meat products exported to China should not contain growth promotants, feed additives and other chemical compounds including ractopamine, prohibited by China’s law and regulation. Meat and Meat products shipments detected with prohibited substance or compounds at the port of entry will be rejected, returned to the origin port or destroyed.



    Labeling Requirements:

  • Exterior Label: Chinese and English
    1. Product name
    2. Country of origin
    3. Establishment number
    4. Production date
    5. Expiration date, storage period, or shelf life
    6. Storage temperature
    7. Country of destination
    8. Net weight (English)
    9. Inspection legend (English)
    10. Name and address of Company (English)
    11. Production Lot number (as defined by the exporter)
    12. Specification (refers to packaging type)
  • Inner Label: English or Chinese
    1. Product name
    2. Country of origin
    3. Establishment number
    4. Production Lot number (as defined by the exporter)
  • The production lot numbers for the exterior and inner label must be the same!!
  • Note: the label must legible and easy to read. AQSIQ association have designed the different beef types of label templates, for the convenience of applicants quickly and automatically generate a label of own style and elements to meet the AQSIQ standards.
  • For eligible meat products, China confirmed that on the exterior package of eligible meat products, product can be labeled with both chilled and frozen shelf-life dates on the same package, but the exterior package must be designated as chilled or frozen so AQSIQ Inspectors knows which date applies.

    A list of filed manufacturer / exporters and agents with their names and countries / regions shall be generated by the AQSIQ registration management system and made public on AQSIQ database.
