China-Nepal Free Trade Agreements

March 21, 2016, China Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng and Nepalese Commerce Minister Di Park Bohera signed a document in Beijing.

  • “Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Commerce of Nepal on the commencement of the Joint Feasibility Study on China-Nepal Free Trade Agreement”

  • Announced the formal launch of bilateral free trade agreement joint feasibility study.

    The two sides agreed to set up a working group to conduct a comprehensive study on areas of common concern as soon as possible.

    In recent years, China-Nepal has maintained sustained and healthy economic and trade relations.

  • China – Nepal’s bilateral trade volume of $ 866 million in 2015, China’s non-financial direct investment in Nepal $ 32.03 million, China has become Nepal’s second largest trading partner and major investment source.
  • China – Nepal Free Trade Zone is conducive to further expanding trade and investment between the two sides will inject new vitality into economic and trade relations between the two countries.
