China-Canada Free Trade Agreements

September 12, 2017, the fourth meeting of the China-Canada Free Trade Agreement Joint Feasibility Study and Exploratory Discussion was held in Ottawa.

The two sides exchanged in-depth views on the joint feasibility study report and the exploratory joint outcome document, reached a broad consensus and made positive progress, thus laying a good foundation for completing the joint feasibility study and exploratory discussion as soon as possible.

Canada is the 10th largest economy in the world and an important economic and trade partner in China.

In September 2016, Premier Li Keqiang, during his official visit to Canada, jointly with Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau to launch a joint feasibility study and exploratory discussion of the China-Canada FTA.

  • In order to implement the leaders’ consensus, the two sides had held three meetings in February, April and July, respectively.
